Hong Kong | 1995 | Directed by Wong Kar-wai
Logline: In an urban nightscape the lives of a contract killer and his agent working at a distance, a drifter searching for her ex-lover, and an eccentric mute vying for attention in outlandish ways, all cross paths.
Amidst the big neon glitter, the cluttered, claustrophobic alleyways, the towering architectural sheen, and the strangely lonely bars (more. . .)

The Brandon Corey Story is a strange “documentary” that was released by Truthseeker.tv. Although those involved in its production have all come forward to reveal that it is actually a “recreation” of real events, and not real footage, debate still rages online as to whether or not the film you are about to see is real. How very Blair Witchy of them.
Now, I got appx. 3 minutes into this (more. . .)

Italy/France | 1973 | Directed by Marco Ferreri
Logline: Four wealthy and successful middle-aged men, in contempt of their lifestyles, move into a plush villa and proceed to overeat until they expire.
There’s not a straight forward translation for this exceptionally uncompromising display of gastronomic, erotically perverse and scatological self-indulgence. In Italy it is called La Grande Abbuffata, which translates roughly as The Big One Eaten (more. . .)

Thank Goodness
Those blasted activist judges.
How dare they consider “most elementary notions of justice and morality?”
Steve Pearlstein, writing in the Washington Post, expressed the dismay over U.S. Distinct Judge Jed Rakoff’s cavalier approach to the law:
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had it up to here with activist judges who think they can overturn decades of legal precedent and ignore well-established norms of legal behavior in (more. . .)

In the coming days I’ll be posting much more extensively regarding an area of intense fascination and great reverence for me; the peoples of the Hopi Nation. They were and are a mystical people with much to teach us. Before I complete that post however, I wanted to let the following words stand on their own. It is a message from the Hopi Elders…Oraibi, Arizona Hopi Nation.

No joke. Folks in Syndey, Australia awoke this morning to a deep red haze that blanketed the city.
Residents flooded social networking sites and talk radio to determine the cause of the reddened sky and to marvel at this incredible sight.

Last weekend, my husband I went to have some dinner and fun with a few friends of ours. My husband had been drinking (just over the legal limit), so I had to drive. Well, that’s no big deal unless I’m exhausted. I was exhausted on Saturday, and boy, was I a cranky designated driver. My husband, as thoughtful as he is, played soothing music on the way home in an (more. . .)

By now I think most of us fall into one of two categories regarding H1N1 Swine Flu…
1. Doom Doom Dooooom! Scared out of our ever livin’ minds… the end is nigh!
2. Yawn.
Well, truthfully most of us probably fall somewhere in the middle. We’re nervous but skeptical enough to have grown weary of the constant coverage. But, what do we really know about his illness that seems to (more. . .)

I love bats. They’re my second favorite animal. My first love is for cats. Sadly, I am not fond of rats. But it would have made a nice trifecta if I did, yes?
Bats have always been a source of wonder and inspiration for me. They’re just…beautiful and magical creatures. There are a few precious bats that hang out in the entry to my building. They flitter around in the (more. . .)

Vampire movies have been around almost since the dawn of movies. The entire genre has proven to be harder to kill than the bloodsuckers themselves – no matter how hard some have tried over the years.

In return for the hoped for Republican bi-partisan joining health care reform efforts, Senate Democrats accepted Republican negotiators’ instance that the “public option” and other provisions be dropped. And then the negotiators admitted that none of them would vote for that which had been agreed. Democrats in the Senate, so far, have surrendered in hopes for compromise, all to no avail.
Last November, the American people elected a new president (more. . .)

I love this. Telegraph.co.uk is reporting that the Natural History Museum in London has a deal with bookmakers William Hill that if the Loch Ness Monster is ever captured, they will get the right to display the carcass/evidence.
The deal, brokered in 1987, specifies that the NHM will be able to display Nessie’s remains in exchange for scientific verification of her existence.
Word of this strange bargain came to light (more. . .)
