Cheryl’s Bio

Well as the lovely Natalina said, who knew that two babes from different continents would end up blogging about our love of all booky things together and be so fabulous? Well we think we’re fabulous and that’s what counts isn’t it?
I’m Cheryl, or CJ…depending on my mood and I’m from the sunburnt country of Oz – which happens to be totally waterlogged at the moment and in drought at (more. . .)

Scott Brothers hatch plan for Alien prequel

(Sung to the tune of Speed Racer)
Here he comes, here comes Space Jockey, he has a demon in space …

I mentioned it a month or so ago that it could become a possibility, but now it has been confirmed that Alien, and Aliens for that matter, will indeed be getting the big screen prequel treatment.
Tony Scott, he of the directing realm and Ridley Scott’s brother, revealed the news (more. . .)

13 Cyborg Films That Need Termination

In Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character describes itself as being a cybernetic organism. We know his type better as simply ‘cyborgs’.
The Oxford Dictionary describes a cyborg as ”a person whose physical tolerances or capabilities are extended beyond normal human limitations by a machine or other external agency that modifies the body’s functioning; an integrated man-machine system”.
The less formal Wikipedia says fictional cyborgs are portrayed as a (more. . .)

Dear Diary – May 31

Call me a nerdophile, but I don’t get upset when my computer at work plays up – I just sit back and wait for the lovely Scott, our resident IT guru.
I’ve been known to angle my way towards him at after work drinks, so I thought why not take our drunken bitching about co-workers to the next level?
“Scotty, it’s Bec from level seven, how are you? (blah blah (more. . .)

Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner

At first glance, “Goodnight Nobody” appears to be your run of the mill classic chick lit.  While it is true that there are elements that will appeal to the traditional chick lit audience, the reality is that this is also a fantastic murder mystery, as well as an unapologetic commentary on the way women tend to lose themselves in their duties to others. It comes  from one of the most (more. . .)

Rey Mysterio Speed Painted on YouTube

Yesterday I came across some videos of N. Suarez “speed painting” on YouTube using Photoshop. Originally I was in search of all things My Name is Earl, but also noticed this clip. Suarez has some amazing Photoshop talent.
I would like to see this one updated though to include all of Rey’s new tattoos.

My Name is Earl Speed Painting

While looking around I came across this very cool video of someone named N. Suarez speed painting Randy Hickey from My Name is Earl. I have no talent whatsoever when it comes to Photoshop and other computer drawing programs, so this sort of amazes me. Then again I am often distracted by shiny metal objects. Regardless, this kind of art as with any takes some pretty good talent. N. Suarez definitely has talent.

Dear Diary – May 29

Regan and I met at school about 12 years ago and have been friends ever since.
Even though we don’t see each other on a regular basis, we still talk over the phone and hang out occasionally.
So when Regan told me last week he was gay – I wasn’t surprised. I suspected it. I wasn’t sure, so I never asked.
A close friend has told me Regan had come out (more. . .)

American Stonehenge – The Georgia Guidestones

Elbert County, Georgia is the home of one of the greatest modern enigmas in the United States.  The Georgia Guidestones are a huge granite structure that contain very cryptic writing, and whose origins are steeped in mystery.

Visiting this monument is near the top of my Bucket List! Standing 20 ft tall and consisting of six stone tablets, the Guidestones were commissioned to be built in 1979 by a (more. . .)

Send Your Images to TNT Network and SaveEarl.com

In recent days it has become apparent that the basic cable network TNT might be interested in picking up My Name is Earl for the show’s fifth season.
We need to urge them to take action and give new life to Earl.
We should all take pictures wearing the cool moustaches like Earl’s. Pictures by yourself, with friends, or even strangers. Although I might suggest you not taking pictures with (more. . .)

Acolytes

Australia | 2008 | Directed by Jon Hewitt

Logline: Three mischievous teenagers decide to blackmail a suspected serial killer into murdering a perverted bully as an act of revenge, but their dangerous plans go seriously awry.

Australia’s recent genre entries have been solid and inspiring and Acolytes is one of the best horror-thrillers I’ve seen in years. Set amidst the gorgeous Queensland forest juxtaposed with the sprawling suburbia, it’s a murderous tale (more. . .)

My Awakening – Part 4

He spun on his heel and started to walk away. I stood motionless not knowing what to do next. Is he leaving me here to fend for myself? Do I follow him?

After his body disappeared into the darkness of the surrounding trees I heard his voice. “Well are you just going to stand there?†I thought about this for a moment, actually thinking that might be the better option. This man…this thing…had turned me into something inhuman, something unspeakable, why should I follow him? The moment passed quickly as I realised that I had no idea of what was supposed to come next. I don’t know how to be a vampire. I don’t WANT to be a vampire!

Extraordinary Thursday Videos: Secret Societies

After my recent post about Bohemian Grove (my tongue in cheek photoshop experiment with a Sesame Street character, to be precise) I’ve been asked to expand upon Bohemian Grove, and clubs like it.   You can see my silly little post about “Bohemian Grover” here:  Fun with Photoshop in Bohemian Grove
