Nick Redfern works full-time as an author, lecturer, and journalist. He writes about a wide range of subjects, including Bigfoot, UFOs, and paranormal phenomena. He has appeared on many television shows, including the History Channel’s Monster Quest; the National Geographic Channel’s Paranatural; and the SyFy Channel’s Proof Positive. A few years ago author Dixie Cash ( Pamela Cumbie and her sister Jeffery McClanahan) jumped out on me from the new books section of our local library and I’ve been hooked since.  I am reading the latest installment (books 7) in their Domestic Equalizer series I Can’t Make You Love Me, but I Can Make You Leave: A Novel (Domestic Equalizers).  The leading ladies are best friends, salon owners and private investigators on the side in the small town of Salt Lick, TX.  They solve crimes and beauty disasters while always getting themselves into a pickle.

I suggest starting with the first book in the series Since You’re Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash.  It’s a fantastic way to lighten your mood with a little laughter and a touch of mystery.

Forbes actually listed the Top 13 on their list. 11th and 12th place are actually tied so that means just #13 won’t be included on this list. #13 was Aaron Spelling who earned $5 million.

#11		Jimi Hendrix	$6 million	The Guitar God is still earning money from things like the Rock Band video game, the Experience Hendrix tour featuring lots of amazing musicians playing his music. His estate has even released new/previously unheard recordings. So even 30 years after his death he is giving us new music.
#10		Richard Rodgers	$7 million	Rodgers is one half of that famous team…Rodgers & (Oscar) Hammerstein for those that don’t instantly recognize his name. That team’s catalog of songs was sold in 2009 for $200 million. Those earnings and songs aren’t figured into this total. These earnings come from his earlier work with Lorenz Hart on songe like, “My Funny Valentine”, and “The Lady is a Tramp.”
#9		George Steinbrenner	$8 million	The Boss is the most recently dead person on the list, passing on July 13, 2010. Steinbrenner will continue earning money for a long time thanks to his New York Yankees franchise.
#8		Albert Einstein	$10 million	Even though this genius died way back in 1955 his estate is earning the big bucks from companies like Disney and Nintendo. He earns money from Disney for the Baby Einstein line of products and is now attached to a Nintendo DS brain game. He also earns money from Chrysler Truck ads and a like of A.J. Morgan glasses. Apparently there are more geniuses within his estate to have him earning that much more than half a century after his death.
#7		Theodor Geisel aka Dr. Seuss	$11 million	Dr. Seuss is the best-selling children’s author in history. His books are now making their rounds in iPhone apps. His titles sold about 3 million copies last year. There is also a Seuss attraction at Universal Studios Orlando earning him money.
#6		Stieg Larsson	$15	Larsson died back in 2004 well before his books began earning so much money. His books are part of, “The Millennium Trilogy.” Still don’t recognize it? The most popular book in the series is, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” Daniel Craig is slated to star in the movies that will be based on the books that are being made by Sony.
#5		John Lennon	$17 million	EMI has re-released a big chunk of Lennon’s music catalog which has led to earnings and even some Top 10 appearances on the charts. He also earns licensing rights from the Beatles Rock Band video game, and others.
#4		Charles Schulz	$33 million	Schulz beloved Peanuts comic strip still appears in 2,200 newspapers in 75 countries. The Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates still owns a 20% stake in all things Peanuts as part of a new company Peanuts Worldwide, LLC. The company was formed last year after a company named Iconix paid $175 million for the cartoon and all its characters.
#3		J.R.R. Tolkien	$50 million	Tolkien’s earnings saw a huge resurgence with the making of the Lord of the Rings movies almost a decade ago. Hollywood is now working on a two movie adaptation of The Hobbit. All og that Hollywood attention has also been great for book sales.
#2		Elvis Presley	$60 million	The King’s earnings were bolstered in 2010 due to his 75th birthday celebration increasing sales of just about everything. There was also an Elvis Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas, and an Elvis themed cruise to the Bahamas.
#1		Michael Jackson	$275 million	What can be said about The King of Pop’s earnings? Well he earned more than the two most profitable living acts (U2 &  AC/DC) combined in the same time frame. If you do the math you will see he also earned more than all of the other 12 dead earners on this list combined. One more astonishing note. Each year Forbes also releases the Top 100 Celebrity earners. MJ earned more than ALL of them on that list with the exception of Oprah Winfrey. His earnings will probably go up a bit more once his Cirque du Soleil show begins touring.
